The purpose of this course is to provide trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely carry out work tasks using Self Contained and Airline Breathing Apparatus. This course has theoretical and practical components that participants must successfully complete.

The course is designed for all those who are required to operate breathing apparatus equipment within the workplace.


There are no pre-requisites for this course.

To prepare participants for successful completion of assessment activities the following content is delivered:

  • Recognise the physiology of respiration
  • Identify the need for BA
  • Don, wear, remove and service BA equipment
  • Use BA in hazardous environments
  • Demonstrate correct entry control procedures

On Completion

After successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a ‘Statement of Attainment’.
